Best staff performance rating apps for restaurants

By the Wevree team · Updated October 30, 2026

Most "employee management" apps for restaurants are scheduling, time and payroll tools. They are useful, but most don't ask the people who work side by side how each person does the job. Here is what each common option is built for, and where each one is strongest.

Quick picks

1. 7shifts

A restaurant team platform for hiring, training, scheduling, time clocking, labor compliance, payroll, tip management and communication (7shifts). Its Engage tools track attendance, reliability and shift feedback, where employees rate their own shift, plus manager notes and shout-outs (7shifts Engage). Strong if labor control is your main need.

2. Homebase

Scheduling, time tracking, team communication, hiring and HR tools for small businesses. Its Basic plan is $0 for one location with up to 10 employees, and paid plans are priced per location (Homebase pricing). A low-cost start for small independents.

3. Connecteam

One app for scheduling, time tracking, communication and HR, including tasks, forms and checklists, chat, training, and recognition and rewards. Connecteam says teams under 10 employees can use it free (Connecteam). It is a broad operations app rather than a coworker rating tool.

4. Lattice and 15Five

Performance management platforms. Lattice offers real-time feedback, including peer feedback and praise, linked to reviews and goals, and works with Slack, Microsoft Teams and email (Lattice feedback). 15Five offers reviews, engagement surveys, goals and manager tools, priced per user, and says it is best suited for mid-market and enterprise organizations (15Five). A heavier fit for a single restaurant's hourly crew.

5. Wevree

Built for one question: who really carries the team? Each Round, coworkers rate each other from 1 to 10 on Topics the owner picks in a Rating plan. Ratings are anonymous to everyone, including the owner and Wevree. Rule: 4 or more staff, each result needs at least 3 coworker ratings. Managers are one rater among many, and scores can't be edited. Workers build WeResume, a work record they own. It runs on iPhone and Android in English, Spanish and Korean. Wevree doesn't do scheduling or payroll, so most restaurants run it next to one of the tools above.

At one store using Wevree with about 30 staff, departures went from 2-3 people a month to about 1 every 3 months.

How to choose

  1. If you can't build a schedule or control labor, fix that first (7shifts, Homebase or Connecteam).
  2. If you can't tell who's good when you're not there, add coworker ratings (Wevree).
  3. If you run salaried teams with review cycles, look at Lattice or 15Five.

Frequently asked questions

Why ask coworkers instead of managers?

Coworkers see every shift. A manager sees some of them and has their own relationships. Anonymous averages from several coworkers give the owner a second view.

Does Wevree tell me who to fire?

No. It shows how the team rates each person. The owner decides.

How many staff do I need for Wevree?

4 or more staff, each result needs at least 3 coworker ratings.

Can Wevree replace my scheduling app?

No. Wevree does not do scheduling, time clocks or payroll. It works alongside those tools.
